Sophie's Advise for Aspiring Actors

The theatrical business is a tough one to get into, as well as being so popular. But you don't need to worry, because you've got exlusive tips from one young star who's made it, Sophie Morris.

  • You can never have too much experience. Be in as many productions as you can, go to as many classes as you can to learn as much as you can. This will make you the best you can be, and this is the only way you're going to make it.

  • Prepare for failure. However good you are, there is always going to be tough competition and you cant get it every time. The best thing you can do is get a thick skin, because you will have to go through your fair share of lows. Of course, if you are determined and passionate enough about whatever you do, this won't be an issue.

  • Make connections. You never know when having a friend on the creative team will come in handy. If you've made a good impression on the director or producer before your audition, then they are more likely to cast you. But you do still need the talent for this, you can't rely on these connections

  • Love what you do. This, for me, is the most important one. This industry is so competitive and will take over your life. So if you aren't totally devoted to it, don't do it. Becuase if you don't want it totally, someone else will, and they will go the extra mile, and they will always beat you. This means you could go through life failing, and this is no way to live. If you love it enough, you will succeed.
